Welcome to the sale of my lovely, 1970 Early Bay Deluxe Westfalia Campmobile. She is called May, being built on 26th May 1970.
I have had this bus a few years and I have loved every minute of it. We have travelled around the UK in May and she has never let us down. I service her twice a year, once at the start of the season and once at the end. The MOT has expired due to the classic status but a fresh one will be applied for the new owner. The bus had a major service last summer by Mike of WayOutWestie. The bus is totally solid underneath and has no mechanical issues. She started life in the USA and has her original Westfalia interior still. I have a whole folder of documentation and history. The paint and bodywork is as straight as youll find. She is stored in a garage year round to keep her in top condition.
The lady before me, purchased it from Steve Nolan from Wolfsburg VW in Lancashire, an extremely well known and respected member of the Volkswagen community, back in 2010 & has had Steve regularly service and look after throughout her ownership. Steve repainted her in the original colours of Savanna Beige, with Cloud White, roof and bumpers. You’ll notice she has opening 1/ 4 lights in both cab doors, 2 more in the rear side windows and the Westfalia louvered window above the folding table. She also wears her deluxe beltline trim, which finished the deluxe look, added to the side markers and cool 356 Porsche replica wheels, these are cool, although just starting to show signs of needing refurbishment, as some of the chrome is peeling slightly, but still look nice. Inside, May retains her genuine Westfalia camper interior, complete with original cabinetry, rock ‘n’ roll bed, clever storage and period fittings. The cabin has a wonderfully honest feel, retaining its original character while remaining comfortable and usable a true glimpse into late-1960s VW camper life.
Up front are the original beige basket weave seats and door cards. Every year Steve has maintained and serviced the bus & we have a full history of what he’s done. I have made only minor changes to the bus under my. ownership. I secured an original front badge from the USA and had it professionally painted and installed by Dean and Classic Car Revivals. The engine is strong and runs smooth with no issues encountered thanks to regular care and maintenance. I have cleaned the engine bay and it presents very nicely, as does the whole bus. I also have a set of original paint cloud white wheel wide wheels for the bus which will be included in the sale, allowing the new owner to change the wheels should they wish to.
