Big Blue, Off Grid – Brand New Conversion, Handcrafted and High Spec.

Big Blue is an ex minibus to a private school, it had an easy life with little use and frequent services. We purchased Big Blue for the sole purpose of creating a home on wheels, we have handcrafted and designed everything ourselves with great attention to detail and using only the highest qaulity materials and gadgets. Big blue seats 3 and has sleeping space for 2 adults and a small child.   

Our Design: We had stealth in mind when creating this camper. The exterior is a beautiful blue with piano black windows for extra privacy. The only giveaway Big Blue has as to being a Campervan are by the Solar Panels mounted on the roof. The exteriors stealthy design is of great benefit, as it means you don’t have to worry about designated Campervan parking. You can pull up and stay anywhere that suits, giving incredible freedom and allowing for some fantastic adventures.   

High Spec: We have used some very advanced features in this van to further enhance your adventures, listed below are all the features and how they benefit, if you would like anymore info or have any questions please don’t hesitate to get in touch. 

Gas – The gas system we went for is a refillable LPG system provided by Gas It and is by far the most efficient way of cooking while on the road and means there is no complicated switching of gas cylinders. This amazing system is incredibly cheap, lasts a long time and better still it can be monitored on any smart phone, using the app. This way you will always know exactly how much gas you have left in the tank, and when you are running low. Simply go to any petrol station around the UK (or in Europe) with an LPG AutoGas Pump and top it up. 

Off Grid Electric System – All electrics are run off of 2x 100ah AMG 12v Leisure batteries that are charged by the engine. Also 2x Large 100w Mono-crystalline Solar Panels, and a Victron Energy MPPT Controller. This provides the ability for totally off grid living with no need for electric hook ups. The solar panels and battery state can be monitored on any smartphone via an app, to ensure you are never left short. There is also a 1000W pure sine inverter fitted for charging laptops & other devices, as well as running mains power appliances.

Living Space – We have created a multi functional living space with 2 benches and a height adjustable table. The benches are hollow providing great storage space beneath and have memory foam for the seats for extra comfort. The height adjustable table drops down to create a long bench and a sleeping space for a small child. The table top has been hand carved using solid oak and can be removed to allow for travel with bikes and other large items. 

Kitchen – The kitchen is handcrafted with a solid oak worktop, under cupboard LED lights, a double burner hob in a black glass finish, built in microwave and a completely silent running fridge. There is also a great amount of kitchen storage, with a soft close deep draw, a shelf, plus a large cupboard with 2 shelves. The kitchen also comes with a large sink. A tap with a fitted pump, and a 25L water tank. The water tank is easily accessible from outside, via the inlet funnel or a hosepipe. The waste water is also collected here for easy emptying. 

Bathroom – The bathroom is a separate marine wooded hand finished room with both a shower and toilet. Also comes with a curtain cover for splash protection and privacy. The shower unit is portable and the water can be heated both by the gas hob as and when you need it or solar heated by leaving in the sun. The portability of the shower unit is also great for outdoor use, ideal for those beach days or muddy paws maybe.  The toilet is an easy flushable toilet so no need to worry about campsite facilities also enhancing the ability to stay anywhere anytime, The toilet unit is fully sealable and odour free, easy to use and empty. 

Bed – The bed is a luxury memory foam double bed and comes fitted with brand new Egyptian cotton sheets for extra comfort. 

Heating – Big Blue is excellently insulated throughout, and fitted with a diesel night heater which is incredibly efficient.  The heater has been plumbed into the vans diesel tank for added safety due to not needing to remove and refill the tank. The heater is brilliant for keeping warm day or night.

Lighting – We have used LED lighting throughout the van, fitted under cupboard units. Also into the roof lining for a clean finish. The LEDs give incredibly warm lighting, this also features a dimming switch with remote control, so you can have the lights as bright or dim as you like. 

Storage – There is a huge amount of storage space, including inside both benches, 3 deep draws, a cupboard and a large overhead unit that runs down the length of the van above the kitchen and bed. As well as the built in storage there is also a large garage/boot under the bed for larger items such as suitcases, paddle boards, bikes and many other things you might pack for your adventures. 

Van Spec – Big Blue is a 2005 Semi Automatic Renault Master with incredibly low miles. Features include Satellite Navigation, remote central locking and electric front windows. Big Blue is also the high roof version of the Master and this really is a feature you must not compromise on. The ability to stand up in your Campervan is a major feature and makes life on the road much more comfortable.
