2017 Transit Custom SWB self-build camper van – water, electrics, cruise, a/c

It’s with a heavy heart that I need to part ways with my van. I built all of this myself, and have loved every minute using it – but sadly it’s just not getting the use it deserves and I’m finding myself commuting much more, so time to switch to a car.

There’s 131k on the clock, so no spring chicken, but she’s in great condition and has got plenty of life and adventures still to give.

It has all the essentials, including a leisure battery giving you about three nights completely off grid. Well insulated and super cosy, whilst still having plenty of room for two.

Euro6 – so ULEZ, Clean Air Zone, etc. compliant
Bodywork all in decent shape, few minor scrapes over the years but all cleaned and re-sprayed so not rust etc. Never crashed.
All-round parking sensors, cruise control, aircon, DAB radio with Bluetooth.
Only 1 previous owner before me.
Mostly motorway miles for both previous owners.
Never been used to transport heavy goods / as a builders van so suspension all good order.
Manual 6-speed gearbox.

The conversion:
All woodwork is beautiful plywood – the bed was a kit, everything else was custom built.
Pull-out bed, comfy sofa to double bed (180cm long).
Loads of under-bed storage.
Deep storage shelves with bungee retainers.
24L fresh water tank feeding a tap and mini sink with external drainage.
12v electrics with leisure battery charged from van or hook-up, powering: dimmable lights, USB sockets, 2x cigarette sockets, water pump, inverter for 240v appliances.
Hook-up electrics giving 2x standard UK sockets and 2x USB sockets.
2x fold-out tables, one in main living area, one on rear door.
Big storage compartment under passenger seats in front cab.
Fully insulated and sound deadened – with three layers beneath the ply and carpeting you see and under the floor.
Blackout curtains on rear windows.
Designed so you can fix a normal camping stove w/ gas on the ‘kitchen counter’ allowing you to cook in or out.
